HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE SUSANNA WESLEY MISSION AUXILLARY MT.OLIVET SOCIETY, DANSOMAN.
“Beloved, let us love
Love is of God
In God alone hath love
Its true abode (MHB 444 v1)
Hence our greetings “Beloved – Let us love”
Mt. Olivet branch of SUWMA started from a humble beginning when a sister, Vincentia Poku who had been a member of the Kumasi branch joined the Mt.Olivet Methodist Church. She initiated the move with encouragement from the then Superintendent Minister Very Rev.Samuel Osabutey and circuit ministers, their maiden meeting was held on the 7th May 2002 with six (6) members.
The organization was embraced and approved by the leaders meeting and inaugurated on 23rd March 2003 with fifty –two (52) members. Since we were the first branch of SUWMA in the Dansoman Circuit, the onus fell on us to open branches in the societies within the circuit. By God’s grace we have been able to nurture and inaugurate five (5) branches within the circuit namely; Bread of life, Maranatha, Grace Bethel, Rev. JC Memorial and Bethel.
We have not rested on our oars; our target is to open branches in all the societies in the circuit. Currently, we are nurturing and mentoring three (3) societies which are yet to be inaugurated. These are Jubilee Methodist, Ebenezer and Red Top.
