In the year 1982 Sister Dinah Holdbrook-Smith, Past Connexional Secretary of the Women’s Fellowship (deceased), Sis. Mavis Amonoo- Acquah (deceased) Circuit President of North Accra Women’s Fellowship and Sis. Ernestina Sagoe-Nkansah (deceased) the President of the Mt. Olivet Women’s Fellowship were keen to establish Girls’ Fellowship in Mt. Olivet.
In consultation with the M.t. Olivet Women’s Fellowship, Sis. Victoria Abakah Sam was asked to start a branch at Mt. Olivet. She started the Fellowship with 25 girls. They met at Mt. Olivet on Saturdays from 4pm – 5.30pm. Sis. Victoria Abakah Sam became the caretaker with Sisters Vincentia Appiah, Dina Quarm,Victoria Asiedu and Elizabeth Ansah (deceased) as helpers.
In order to cater for girls at Last Stop now Bread of Life Society, a new branch was started under the care of Sisters Victoria Abossey (deceased) and Christiana Ambaa with 30 girls who met at Bro. Samuel Abossey’s house.
The Mt. Olivet Girls’ Fellowship was inaugurated on Sunday 28th December, 1985.
Aims
- To teach girls how to read, study and understand the Bible.
- To learn a trade (sewing, craft etc) which will help them in future.
- To run courses and conferences for Caretakers, helpers and children.
- To train children in cooking, handiwork, farming and housekeeping
Objectives
To train girls to assist the Caretakers after passing through the Fellowship and also to prepare them for leadership roles in the church and other Youth Organisations with in the church.
